Course Overview

Before you get started, it is important to know that anyone looking to be employed in the property industry will be required to complete the Assistant Agent course. By completing this course, you will gain an introductory understanding of all aspects of the real estate industry. This includes a high-level understanding of sales, property management, trust accounts, and legislation. You will also gain valuable communication skills which will support a successful start in your new role.

Once you have completed this course you will be issued with a ‘Statement of Attainment’ outlining the required units of competency. This statement can be used to apply to Access Canberra, along with the necessary application to receive your Certificate of Registration.

All participants as part of the enrolment process will be required to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) test as required as part of Government regulations. This test will confirm that you are ready and suitable to complete the training course.

The Agents Act 2003 states, that anyone undertaking the functions of a salesperson or property manager in the ACT must be registered as an assistant agent and hold a Certificate of Registration.

An ACT Assistant Agent Course – Certificate of Registration allows you to work in a real estate office in either sales, property management, or an administrative/support role. An assistant agent does have limited duties and must work under the direct supervision of a licensed agent.

The course must be completed within 6 months of enrolment.
